Why Hire an English-Speaking Magician for Your Barcelona Event
Updated: Sep 21
Barcelona has a huge international business community, but genuinely fluent English-language entertainment for corporate events is surprisingly hard to find. If your team, your clients or your guests are English speakers, that's a bigger deal than it sounds.

I'm Rua Gleeson, an Irish magician and mentalist based here in Barcelona. English is my first language, and I've spent 20 years performing close-up magic and mentalism for international corporate audiences — including Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., Google and Meta. I've also appeared on Irish and international television, so I'm used to holding a room, in English, under pressure.
The language problem nobody plans for
Mentalism and close-up magic live and die on the patter — the jokes, the misdirection, the back-and-forth with the audience. A performer working in their second or third language can still be technically excellent and still lose a room, because the timing and wordplay that make mentalism land are language-specific. For an English-speaking audience, that gap is the difference between a good night and a great one.
